About the Ministry
Provision 88 is the volunteer based food ministry of Refuge Church lead by Tabatha Bunn. The ministry began in April of 2009 after God laid the idea upon Tabatha’s heart. It started out at less than 30 families a month and has been growing ever since. Now the food ministry is serving over 500 families each month. They have gone from making 10 boxes for an entire month to at least 100 boxes of food for each day they are open. The food ministry helps people from all walks of life, serving several counties in the Northeast Arkansas area.
We are open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00am until 2:00pm. Recipients are required to bring a photo ID and are able to receive food once a month.
The name, Provision 88, is based off of Mark 8:8, “The people ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.” Jesus fed over 4,000 people from only 7 loaves of bread and a few small fish. He blessed it, everyone was satisfied, and there was food leftover for another day. That is the provision of God! Just as Jesus made an impact in His world, Provision 88 is doing the same. We believe in making a difference where you are and that is exactly what happens here. People come to receive food, but they are also shown the the love of Christ.
Provision 88 gets the majority of their food from the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas, but they also collect donations from people within the church and outside donations. The ministry can always use donations of food, cardboard boxes, grocery bags, money and volunteers. Everything is done on a volunteer basis. They can use volunteers on food ministry days as well as Mondays and Wednesdays when they make their boxes for the next day.
